More gay men, lesbians and transgender people seek help from a 'queer life coach'. These coaches promise to help with coming-out, dating and finding community. It sounds attractive, but experiences differ widely.

A life coach for LGBTQ+ matters guides you through big life steps. They help you think about your identity and telling your family. Some coaches have therapy training, others do not. This difference matters for quality.

The question is: do you pay for what friends give free? Online communities and real therapists also help. Some clients feel very supported at important moments. Others find it superficial and too expensive. One session costs around 100 euros.

It is important to be careful who you trust. Not everyone calling themselves 'coach' has real training. Always check someone's background before you pay. Remember: your friends, Family Pride or free online groups are valuable too.
